I am a photographer working in the southeastern United States. I photograph nearly everything - trees, grass, people, cities, homes, cars, smokestacks, food, piles of garbage, and sunsets. My photographs are artifacts of my experience. Every object is a story. There is beauty everywhere.

I hold university degrees in fields completely unrelated to photography: a BS in geology, a MSc in freshwater geochemistry, and a Ph.D. in oceanography. I prefer forests to rivers, rivers to lakes, buttons to zippers, yoga to the weight room, biking to running, coffee to tea, and green olives over black. I’ve spent a year of my life at sea. I even once took a nap at the bottom of the ocean. I have been a union carpenter, a cook, a barista, a house painter, machinist, naturalist, and research scientist. I draw, I paint, I write, I build, I make photographs. I am here, adrift, bewildered, in awe. I am here, eyes wide, and alive. I am here, no escape, a whole observer.
